Pregnant after a Loss

Is this a bad idea??

We have a 4 bedroom house and 1 of the bedrooms has been converted to my office (I work from home). The other spare bedroom is currently the guest room. The original idea was to make the spare room the baby's room and re-do the office to be a guest room/office for when we have guests.

DD is insisting she share a room with her sister (she wants princess bunk beds). DH thinks it's a great idea once the baby gets older, especially since we still may go for our 3rd child. I'm not so convinced. DD#1 will be 5 years older than DD#2 and I personally think that's a big age difference to share a room.

Thoughts??

  • I would give the baby her own room. That way she won't keep older DD up at night. If you give her a few years, she may not want to share a room anymore.

This is exactly what I was thinking

  • by the time your little one is old enough to be able to sleep in a bunk bed, DD #1 may not be so keen on the idea of sharing her room. Stick out tongue

  • I like your idea and would do separate bedrooms.  That's just me.  I also agree that it's a big age difference

However . . . my friend has so sons that are 11 and 6 - they had their own rooms and then decided to share one . . . but it was their choice.

GL - it will work out :-)

  • Thanks everyone. I did find a nice full size bunk bed set that would match DD#1's furniture. It's not terribly expensive so I suppose we could just buy the bunk beds and see how life pans out.... Keep them separate for now and if by chance we are lucky enough to have DC#3, we'll need DD#1 and #2 to share a room anyway if it's a boy.
  • My sister and I are 6 years apart.  My parents tried to do the exact same thing... and it failed miserably.  By the time Carly (my sister) was old enough to sleep in my room (without disturbing me for school/sleeping through the night) I was almost 8.  I had a two year old in my room.  She would tear up my things, and if anything was left out.... it was a danger to her.

It really was too much of an age difference to work.  We ended up hating each other, and my parents moved us back into our own rooms within a year.
