Even though our infant car seat went up to 35 pounds, we switched when DS was 19 pounds and he was just so much more comfortable in the convertible car seat and was able to sit there without fussing for longer periods and it is easier for him to see out the window.
You will need to purchase convertible car seat anyway,so why not do it sooner rather then later.

our gracco snugride is 22 lns and 29 inches so yes we moved to a covertable as soon as she was 29 inches. check your manual or look it up online. whatever store you bought it from should have it online the specs. i say yes, convertable though

I would normally agree with you about getting it sooner... but with 2 my double snap and go stroller is a life saver that lets me take them places eaiser. Not to mention, that I won't be able to go to the store anymore because they both can't be in the cart if not in their car seats plus DD is smaller so she wouldn't need to switch for a while.
I am going to switch (I just found the info for my car seat and it is 29" max)
I am so sad So much of my freedom just evaporated.

can you get a carrier (I love my Ergo) and wear your DS while still putting your DD in the snap and go?
Re: Do I need to switch to a convertible car seat?
Our seat isn't Graco but, it's 22 lbs and 30 inches. We just moved DS to a convertible car seat a few weeks ago.
*Edit: I just googled the snug ride and the length limit is 29 inches.
