Crying before falling asleep?

Since day 1 DS has cried for about 1 minute right before he gives in to sleep. He squirms around and gets all worked up then conks out.

Anyone else experience this? If your LO doesn't cry- how long does it take you to settle them down before they fall asleep?

I should also add- I will hold him and rock him until he falls asleep. Once I put him down he starts crying.

My son does this when he is really tired and fighting sleep. He fusses for less than a minute and then is out cold It usually happens during his naps, not his nighttime sleep. Sometimes it does take up to half an hour or more to settle him down if he is really fighting it. Its frustrating because I can tell he is tired.
