Success after IF

Ferber Question...

So, we started "ferberizing" LO on friday night.  Its going really pretty well.  She cried for a total of 30 minutes night one (we go in at 5, 7, 10, 15 min. intervals).  She now cries for about 5 minutes before falling asleep...but...I guess I'm greedy..I'm really anxious for her to go to sleep w/o crying.  The crying makes me feel so bad!!

For those of you who ferbered...how long until your LO started going to sleep w/o crying?  Or do they still cry for a few minutes at a time?

  • I would say that by night #5 he was going into his crib awake and, without crying, putting himself to sleep.  He does occasionally have nights when he cries, but its never more than a couple of minutes.  But that's maybe once every few weeks.  Otherwise, he's great at going to sleep!  Hope she goes to sleep without crying soon!

  • We ferberized at 7 1/2 months.  By the 4 or 5th night she went right to sleep but now and again (even at 13 months) she still has nights where she will cry for a few minutes.  I bet in a few days your dd will not cry at all.  Ferberizing worked very well for us.  We were all much happier after we did it.  Bed time is much more pleasant.

  • I think it was about a week. Like pp said. sometimes he cries for like 5 mins and sometimes he goes right to sleep and its been about 4 months since we did Ferber. I know the crying is really hard. Hang in there
