First Fever - Question

The info from our pedi gives the dosage for Tylenol and says to call if it doesn't bring the fever down or if it lasts longer than 24 hours. ?(Rectal temp was 102.5, 15 minutes after Tylenol it was 101.2, fell asleep before we could take it again, but by touch the fever was clearly gone.)

Do you wake your LO when it's time for another temp check/dose? ?Or let her sleep and wait until she wakes on her own?

TIA

Re: First Fever - Question

  • I let her sleep. If she wakes and the fever is still there a cold cloth on the back of her neck has worked.

  • I agree, let her sleep. ALso, Motrin seems to help more in our house.  Just wanted to throw that out there. :)

  • We just went through the fever crap.

Let her sleep, the sleep is doing more good than the Tylenol.

And ditto the Motrin working better...it lasts longer than Tylenol.
