Earlier today, at my office (which is 90% babyproofed... I can't do any better than I have), Aaron crawled over to my bookshelf and took out a book. I wasn't too worried about him ripping it?if he did, he did. But when he started sucking on the cover and chewing, I took it away.
He then threw a FIT! Screaming and crying. Even though I tried the distraction / redirection route, my boy knew what he wanted.
Yesterday he had a meltdown when my DH wouldn't let him have his cell phone. I said that I thought tantrums didn't start until later and what a rude awakening this is.

I'm glad that Aaron is not the only baby who hates having his diaper changed. It's a battle every time?even with interesting toys/objects.
The main issue right now is that he refuses to be distracted. His recall is too sharp!

Ooh.. sorry Robin. Sounds like he knows what he wants and won't be tricked. Just remember that you are smarter than him! You'll find that one thing that works and gets his mind off the other thing.
I am not looking forward to tantrums either. We saw Sydney's temper when we went to the cardiologist. After three hours of testing and being such an angel, she finally had a total meltdown. Complete with holding her breath before she screamed. Eyes wide open, face red... oh man, it was terrible to watch.
All I could do was imagine her doing that in the middle of Macy's. Please Lord, give me strength...
Matt will fling himself to the floor if he does not get what he wants. He used to arch his back and fall backwards but it hurt so he has learned to go forwards.
This is 200 billion percent Orchid!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would have a tantrum too after three hours of being poked and prodded.
