Sorry I have been absent in posting this last week, but I must agree with a previous poster your LO's just keep getting cuter. I go back to my theory that AMA's make the cutest babies.
Anyway. So we are about to embark on our first cross country trip - Louisville to San Diago to Spokane to Kamiah, ID and back. (It's going to be OK and repeat...) While I think I have all the basics of plane travel down - feed on the way up, feed on the way down, feed when she gets fussy - I would love any other pearls of wisdom that you ladies have to offer that I may have overlooked. Also since I hate flying I take just a nip of Xanex and was told by V's pedi that I should abstain from BF for 12 hours. Anyone else had to deal with this?
Re: V's first plane ride
I have no advice but, I think you're wise to take your Xanex. I truly believe babies pickup on their parents anxiety.
Save travels to you and Miss V!

Since we just got back from Louisville I would also suggest little snacks, lots of little toys. You would also be amazed how much fun a plastic airplane cup and a barf bag can be. barf bags are empty of course. :-)
I would also see if you can get the first row if possible. There tends to be a bit more leg room and H really loved standing/sitting there and playing.
Thats all I can think of for now. If i can come up with anything else I will let you know!
We flew for the first time with Maddie in early April. We had a direct flight from Louisville to New York & back, so our time in the air was only 2 hours each way. Feeding on take off & landing worked beautifully for us. We sat at the window seat and Mike took the aisle, so I feel like I had plenty of privacy.
My best advice is to make sure you have everything you could possibly need in the carry on under your seat. Maddie had a blowout of epic proportions shortly after take off and it leaked through everything. We managed to completely clean her up and change her diaper and clothes without having to get out of our seats.
Good luck and have safe travels!
This!! I would suggest several extra outfits, a blanket for baby to play on if you get the bulkhead row, and a blanket to wrap her in, it gets cold inflight. I took the cooler bag and icepack from my breastpump and had teethers, extra milk, etc. in there, it really helped to have the teethers cold. I kept one bottle at room temp in my diaper bag and had an extra in the cooler bag. You can take more than 3oz of breastmilk or formula through security you just have to tell them and they do a special screen that took about 2 minutes, if that. We also have those waterproof, washable cloths that you put under baby when you're changing, we took a couple extra and it SAVED me on our last flight, DD had a giant blowout, I felt it but we were already descending so there was no time to change her. I grabbed one of those cloths and put it under her buns in her carseat. Good thing, bc I would have had poo all over me and the carseat if I hadn't! We also took a snap n'go to the gate and gate checked it, makes it a lot easier whether you carry your carseat on or gate check it. Good luck!! It won't be as bad as you think, we've traveled 3x and 2 of those I've been by myself with DD, you'll be fine
