I want to make a batch of cookies some time this month to see if they're good enough to make for DD's b-day party. I figure that'll be cheaper than having them down at a bakery. TIA!
Also, if you have a good rice crispie treats recipe that can be molded into something that would be great!
Re: Bakers: give me your best (and easiest) sugar cookie recipe! (also rice crispie treats)
Try Rich Rolled Cookies. They are delish.
1 cup butter
2/3 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
Cream butter and sugar
Beat in egg and vanilla
Combine and add flour salt
Chill dough 3-4 hours before rolling
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Roll and cut cookies
Bake on greased cookie sheet 8-10 minutes or until slightly colored
I would leave the cookies about 1/4 inch thick when you roll them. Otherwise they become very delicate like Moravian Sugar Cookies. I would also use the lowest bake time and take them out before they get even the slightest bit brown.
Make some soupy glaze icing from powdered sugar, milk and vanilla. I promise they are to die for.
This is an awesome recipe for soft cutout cookies with cream cheese frosting. ?I have made it several times!

ETA: ?I make them a bit thicker than the recipe says, and I think they're better that way!
