The ASL sign seems too hard for a little guy to master....did you make up your own? We're using other signs w/ LO, but we have no sign for potty yet...

We're not ECing, but I've noticed that DD seems to notice when she pees or poops in her diaper. So in anticipation of potty learning, we've started using the "poop" sign when we know she's pooping. I want to start using the "pee" sign too, but it's much harder to know when she's peeing!
At this young of an age, it may be difficult for him to make the connection for "potty". IMHO. Even verbally.
there are a lot of babies that are EC'd early on that can cue with the pssssst sound, so it's not too early for them to learn verbal associations like that.
We us ASL, although admittedly she doesn't seem to really respond to it and definitely doesn't make it. I think it's too similar to "milk". I have thought about using "poo" or "diaper", but those take two hands and I'm just not skilled enough to do a two handed sign and manage her. We tap the potty, say "time to go potty," and make the "pssssh" sound. The psss sound definitely has worked the best most consistently.

That's basically what I do too....And I know the psss sound works for my guy b/c he will go on cue in unfamiliar places, too, not just his little potty. What I'm hoping for is a sign that he can do at some point. I know most people intro signs around 4 mos even though babies don't produce them for several more months...I want to make sure he has a way to ask for the potty as soon as he is able b/c he hates pooping in his diaper and when I miss his cue he gets upset. I know I"ll get better at reading his cues, too (though the last few days I've been an utter moron about it) but a sign for potty that he could do would be amazing.
