Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Naked baby pics on FB

Inappropriate? I was looking through a friend of DH's pics and he had 2 pics of his son (probably 5 months at the time) in the tub with nothing covering him up. One pic was a full on front pic. Is this reportable? If I could see it then I know it's totally public.

Re: Naked baby pics on FB

  • I asked this recently, but it was just a side view of my son's butt.

Personally, only my friends can see my FB pics, but I think that is crossing a line for me.  I made sure that the pictures I posted after he was born there is nothing hanging out.

Those pictures are meant to be saved and only shown to family or taken out to embarrass your child at inopportune times  Wink

  • I think its inappropriate. I had a breastfeeding picture removed by FB that was very modest, so I'm shocked that something like that is still up there.
  • Hopefully only his friends have access to his FB photos, but I still feel like a naked 5 month old is just a naked baby...even full frontal view.

It creeps me out that a parent even has to worry about this :(

And no it's not reportable...why?  He isn't posting the pics for money, it's his son.

  • some people have different tolerance levels for that kind of thing.

I personally don't see it being a HUGE deal for a 5 m/o in a bath. Now, a 5 y/o naked pic? yes- very bad.

Some people (including myself) are not comfortable with their photos being shown to anyone but friends on FB... some are fine with them for the world to see.... it's all about the parent's comfort level.

i agree w/ this.  i don't put any pics of DS on FB.  but i do believe that 5mo naked baby is just that...a naked baby.  and if he is comfortable with the world seeing his kid, then so be it.

    I agree with this, it's a baby.

If you have a problem with it talk to the person don't just report them.

  • I know I havent posted any.  I read in the news about some guy who had posted a professional photo on his facebook account of his son on his belly bare butted.  He was arrested for child porn for that one photo of his son.  I mean I dont even take bathtub photos of my son because I feel like they will just be percieved as something wrong.  I figure where there is a spot in the baby book for a bath photo I'll put him in a swim diaper on of these days and take the pic....maybe deffinatly havent decided

Reportable as in report to FB so that they would take it down, not report to the police.

But I will let him know that the pic is public and let him make that decision.

I'd definitely say something. I have pictures of Natalie naked where you can't see anything and I still won't put them on FB. too many freaks out there.

    This. It doesn't bother me.

  • It wouldn't bother be. I wouldn't put naked pics of DD up, but it wouldn't bother me if I saw a friend's pic like that. There's nothing offensive or reportable about a naked baby.

Frontal naked is wrong. I would give someone the serious side eye if they posted pics like that on FB or anywhere. Naked baby butt is ok. I personally haven't put up any naked pics of DD. I have one pic where she's in a diaper on FB.
  • I wouldn't report it. I believe that parents have a right to post their baby's pics. Sorry many people here might no agree with me, but in many countries parents change their kids in front of relatives and cousins. It is not a crime and no one takes it in the wrong "Naked" way. That's the culture I am used to. I never understand this whole "Naked" baby thing unless of course someone is doing it out of malice and I am sure I have the ability to differentiate when it is done with malice.
