TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

I thought the Doodle was the one who was supposed to crash

after doggie day care.

But she's happily and energetically working on a rubber chicken toy we found in the new toy basket (she is a sucker for a new toy, it's unreal. You should see the maniacal look in her eye when she realizes this is a fresh "duck") and I am falling asleep in my chair.

And no, I don't have a basket of new toys that I bring out when I really want some peace and quiet. That I fill weekly from the clearance aisle at PetSmart and Target. That Scout knows the location of and will sit and stare longingly at for long stretches of time, forcing me to find a new hiding place.

That would be insane and crazy dog ladyish.

Have a great night ladies!

  • Here's some advice for you, gleaned from my parents who bought their dog way too many toys. Keep a toy rotation. Sounds like you have enough. Have a few available for a few months at a time, and rotate them out, long enough for her to forget about the "new" toys you're pulling out of the closet.
  • Lol, you crack me up! Good night!

You know, the smug reproducers would have a shitfit if they read this, but there are a lot of similar tactics that can be employed raising kids and raising dogs...

LOL!!  I'm a school social worker.  Since I don't have kids, I often find myself comparing kids to dogs and gamblers to parents.  I try to stop myself, but sometimes it just comes out.  I gotta work with what I know (not the gambling part though).  The gambling comes in for those that do slot machines.  I tell parents that a kid will keep doing the behavior if at one point it pays off... get it??

Allison - your dog is a very lucky dog!

  • lol.. you are such a good furmama! The puppy book I read said you should have new toys on hand because dogs get bored easily. Shorty has chewed the stuffing out of 2 stuffed bears from Petsmart, but yet the $1 toy from Walmart is still holding up great. I wonder what Scout would do to the bears if Shorty's tiny teeth can rip through them?

I'm telling you, the Skineeez brand of stuffless stuffed toys are the bomb. Scout goes crazy for them, they are her favorite thing in the world. And there's nothing to destroy - no stuffing!

They're having a sale here, and there are some mini's I think:

  • We bought the skinneez after you recommended them a few months ago and Mickey loves them!  We just got him a second one too.  He carries them everywhere.
