First my question: I found out I was pg today and the dr said that I should start using a progesterone suppository, unfortunately the pharmacy that delivers my meds didn't seem to include instructions. As in should I start taking it immediately?? I called and left a message for the on-call nurse at the pharmacy, but haven't heard back, and my RE doesn't have a 24-hour line. All the instructions I have are: "insert 1 suppository in the evening 3 days after HCG" I thought the dr said start tonight, but I was a little dazed since I thought AF started this morning then they called to say I was pregnant... Has anyone been prescribed progesterone this way??
My intro: DH and I have been ttc for 4 years, we moved to adoption about 2 years ago, had 2 failed matches in less then a year, and took a break from that. We are finally working with an RE that seems very good, understands what she is doing and explains herself well (last one handed me a prescription for clomid and said "Come back in 6 months if you aren't pregnant yet"). This is the 1st time I have ever been pg, so I'm in a bit of shock, but I don't think I'll really believe it until we get the results from the 2nd blood test.
Thank you for the input.
Re: Anyone prescribed progesterone after BFP? (and intro)
Congrats and welcome!
I would start taking the prog tonight. Just a warning -- wear a pantyliner.
I'd start taking it tonight....it won't harm anything if you start early and were supposed to start 3 days from now. When I did my IVF cycle, I was put on progesterone immediately - even before my positive beta.
Def. wear a panty liner though - as Jillrock suggested - you will experience some leaking
