XP: Trip without LO?

Have any of you taken a trip without LO yet?  We're thinking of attending DH's cousin's wedding in New York when DS will be 11 months old.  We're going without him because kids aren't invited to wedding  

We would be away for 3 nights and DS would be with my parents.  Some friends have told me we should that it would be good for us and for him to bond with his grandparents. 

I really tried envisioning it today though and got teary-eyed just thinking of saying goodbye.  The most we've ever been away was 1 night when he was like 6 weeks old.  If I don't go DH would go to wedding without me and I'd stay at home with DS.  I've always wanted to go to New York and this is my opportunity - just so upset it would have to be without my lil guy. 

What should i do?

I have been on two trips w/o my kids.  I got teary eyed leaving...but I got over it and had a good time.  I really needed a break tho...so it may have been easier for me to leave.

We've only been away for a night a couple of times.  We are going away in September for our anniversary.  We'll be gone for four days.  My parents are keeping DS.  I'll miss him, but he has so much fun at my parents.  I think it would be a great time for you and your DH to have some adult time together and for your parents to spend some quality time with their grandchild.

I spent a full week in San Diego without my son. The first half was for work, then my husband met me out there for a weekend. It was hard, but he was with his grandparents so I knew he was taken care of. They said that he was having fun and happy the whole time and we had a nice needed vacation.
