conv carseat tether?

do you have your carseat tethered?

Re: conv carseat tether?

  • We didn't but then I went in for a free car seat check and they tethered it.  They said it wasn't req'd for rear facing but since we had it we might as well use it.

  • im taking ours to one of those carseat check things too but i was just curious if most people did it or not. i have no idea what to tether it on!
  • I just realized ours had tethers today and went out and fixed them in both mine and my husband's car. Our carseat manuals say that if there is not a specific place to tether it; the next best place is to something that is bolted to the car. I do have to say that both our seats are much more secure now that they are tethered!
  • it is only allowed for britax and sunshine kids seats. If you have one of those, I personally feel better with it tethered with children who are a bit heavier (15+ lbs), but if your manual does not specifically state it's allowed, it's not tested that way and should not be done.

  • Ours is teathered to the front seat legs, cause they are really bolted down. at first i didn't and there was some play in the top of the seat even though it was strapped in correctly. once i teathered it, it was much better.

there is allowed to be movement at the top of the seat (tether point). The belt path is where there should be no more than an inch of movement.
