we just rock him and he goes back to sleep pretty fast. Although, he doesn't take a binky. For us it was a short phase and now he only stands up when he's ready to be up in the morning.
I pick him up and give him a kiss and say "it's ok, go back to sleep", or something else in a comforting tone, and then put him back down and quickly leave the room. If he does not go back to sleep, I let him CIO for a few minutes and do it again. Usually the second time he goes back to sleep. It usually works, except these past few weeks at 5 am, he is up and ready for the world.
I would suggest trying not to pick him up. If LO wakes up and stands we just leave him and watch in the monitor. If he gets really worked up and doesn't seem to be settling we will check his diaper and put him right back down. We try not to even go in the room, though.
We were also rocking him back down and he would be asleep in our arms, but when we put him in his crib he would pop right back up to standing. It took a couple weeks, but he went from doing this 5 times a night to doing it only a couple times a week, if that.
Re: how do you deal with standing in the crib.
Ugh it's been two straight weeks of up standing every hour or so at night at 40 minutes into each nap. Killing me I tell you.
I am thinking we'll try a touch of CIO tonight. Kiddo needs to start soothing himself.
We did a couple of minutes of CIO with her (she was doing it during nap time), and it turned out to be just a phase.
