Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Apparently I am way too wrapped up with my daughter.

A friend that I have grown very much apart from said this to me the other day.  I actually went to visit her to discuss some conflict we have been having lately.  I guess she thinks this because I am a part time SAHM and don't drop my kid off every weekend to go out.  My priorities obviously are not in check.  This girl doesn't have any children yet.  She is in for one huge surprise when she does Stick out tongue

Re: Apparently I am way too wrapped up with my daughter.

  • Sadly, that happened to a lot of my friendships too. It sucks, but I would rather be friends with other mommies who understand the responsibility that comes with a baby. Sorry your friend was mean to you.

I am wrapped up in my son - and wouldn't have it any other way!

  • I love when people say stuff like that. I am keeping a mental note of all of it to mock them when they have children...LOL.

  • i have a friend that i have sort of lost in the same way.  she's out of state, so i don't see her much, but when i do she makes little digging comments about how much attention DD needs.  She was clearly upset when i had to take some time out from our day of running around (without DD btw) so i could pump.  i know she just doesn't get it, but still it makes me sad.

Yeah, I have so many awesome mommy friends now.  I love getting together with all the LOs.  I am so done with this friend.  We are planning a bachelorette party together for a mutual BFF.  Once that is over I will be so done.

My DD is my world and I'm not afraid to admit it : )

EDIT: DH is my world too : )

  • I need some mommy friends Sad

Although my non-mommy friends aren't saying things like this to my face, I know that they are thinking it.  They will say things like "well can't you just get a sitter?" or "do you think you can leave him for just a few hours to do xyz?"  They don't understand that I already leave him for 40+ hours a week and have a hard time justifying leaving him more over the weekend.

This exactly. Even my ILs don't understand that sometimes. I WANT to be with her on weekends....she IS my fun time!

To OP, that sucks about your friend. Sad I'd rather hang out with my child than anyone else though.

  • I have several friends who say things like that all the time and I hate it.  They all seem to think they are so knowlegeable about what is or isn't a proper balance--but they don't even have kids.  I just say "ok, thanks for letting me know what you think, but this is what I'm going to do".
