CIO and a sick baby

We finally decided to get DD on a better sleep/nap schedule and are dedicated to try CIO since she literally will not be put in her crib without crying, no matter how much prep we do. It's been 11 months and I can't keep sleeping on the couch with her for naps my bladder can't take it and it's not fair to DS since he only sometimes naps once a day. Also previously we would try cosleeping but she just couldn't get comfy in our bed would toss and turn but then screamed in her own bed...... So the last 3 days we have been working on CIO and it has significantly improved already.  She went from crying 30 minutes at her nap the first day to only 8 today!  But DH has been sick and she is getting a runny nose now.  Should I still not go in to her in the night when she wakes unless she sounds congested?  I don't want to leave my poor sick baby crying in her crib but am also really determined to get this sleep situation solved.  WWYD?

No CIO when baby is sick. DS has been putting himself to sleep for months now but I will go in and rock him or comfort him when he is sick. Do you have a humidifier you can run in her room?

OK I can totally see why, it just seems like this is a never ending battle and any progress we make is going to be shot to sh!t.  Don't get me wrong I lurve my baby girl and want to comfort her, I actually hate listening to her cry but there is no other way, she is stubborn   Problem is even when I rock her to sleep, this is what we do each time before we put her down, she wakes up and cries as soon as I lay her down.  We will just have to try co-sleeping if it comes down to it again, whatever works.  We'll resume sleep training again when she's all better!  Someday we will sleep
