Tough going down

Rought night getting Matty to sleep and it was all our fault.

Matty is usually a champ going to sleep.  I know I am lucky that he loves a schedule and is usually ready to sleep at 8.

Well because DH took him out for some dad and son time yesterday, Matt did not get his usual afternoon nap and instead slept from 4-6. Shockingly, he was not interested in sleeping at 8.  He screamed like I have not heard him scream before.  It sounded like how an alien screams when it bursts from someone's chest.  It was awful. He stands in his crib  with his arms open for me and it breaks my heart!

Luckily, it "only" took about 30 minutes of me going in every two minutes to kiss him and put him back on his side.  He quieted down after that and then fell asleep after about 15 minutes.

Luckily the nanny has him today so he will be back on his schedule!

Re: Tough going down

  • Sorry Matt had a rough night.  I'm sure his father & son time was fun, though.  It sounds like your nanny will get him squared away today so tonight should go better.

Oh, man.  I hate that "arms out" thing.  Well, love and hate it both, it's so sweet but it hurts so much not to pick her up!

Sounds like we had similar days yesterday.  Except that I was the culprit and had Olivia out way too long in the sun with no nap yesterday.  Boy did I pay the price last night!  Hope tonight goes better for you.
  • we had a similar night. Sabrina is normally sound asleep by 7. I don't think she was "sound" asleep last night till 10!! And I blame it on a) missing her late afternoon nap and b) getting put down to bed a mere 1/2 hour late.

we made a rule last night as a result: if we're going to visit someone at their house Sunday-Friday, we can't do it unless we leave before 2pm and MUST be home by 630 at the latest.

  • Charlie was completely off his schedule, sleeping wise, yesterday too.  So he's been sleeping ALL DAY!  Went down for his morning nap at 10 as usual, but he's still sound asleep.

Yesterday was rough.. we went to church in the morning so he was all wound up and wouldn't nap.   Came home and had to head to Aurora for a baby shower, so he only had short naps in the car.  Got home late, too, so his bedtime was late as well.

  • I know, when their schedule is disrupted they go nuts. LO takes a one hour nap around 11am and another 2 or 3 hour nap around 4. Strangely, even if he wakes up at 6:30 from his nap, he still goes back to sleep around 8pm and sleeps through the night. I guess sleep begets sleep!
