I was reading in the NYT about how frequent internet use and cell phone use is affecting our attention span, patience, etc and it got me thinking about how the internet works in my own life. The article recommended this self test so I thought I'd pass it along.

I scored in the the middle but I could see it being higher if DH was more vocal about having an issue with me being on message boards so much.

I think I'm going to delete my saved board book marks from my phone and try to cut down that way. Also set timers for myself like Carollyn did the other day so I can be more productive during the day.

Just thought I'd pass it along!

    I scored really low (the bottom group).  I figured I would score a lot higher because I spend a lot of time online.  But I'm only online a lot when I have nothing else to do, I'm really bored, and DH is gone for work.  He always gives me a hard time about my internet use but I'm on it less than he is.  I just don't think he understands why I'm on the boards and Facebook as much as I am.

    I definitely thought my score would be much higher b/c it seems like I'm on-line a lot, but I was in the bottom group. I guess b/c it doesn't affect the rest of my life. I'm not ignoring DH to get online and I don't constantly anticipate the next time I can get online.

    But, I may have to retake it after I get my iPhone tomorrow...lol

    I don't even have to read the article to know that DH is addicted to the internet. I've noticed a major change in his attention span. He is constantly on the internet, even while out to dinner, while watching a movie or tv. We refer to his iphone as the "mistress".

    Good for you Morgan for trying to cut back and set limits. DH won't even admit that it's a problem.
