Parenting after 35

This refrigerator is not for food.

The sign on the refrigerator in the lactation room at work. I know what they are trying to say, but last time I checked, breastmilk is food. It just makes me chuckle everytime I come in here.

At work someone used the sink in the lactation room to shave.  I posted a note saying "Food is prepared here. Please be respectful."  Thankfully it hasn't happened again!

I am curious as to who uses the lactation room AND needs to shave. An emergency leg shave, perhaps? Or was it definitely a guy?

    DD1 is 3, DD2 is 1.

Couldn't it just say "Breastmilk only"?

But that would make sense and be easy :)

ewwwww!  Luckily, we have to have a key to get into our room.  Hopefully other pumping moms would just say no to shaving in there!

And yeah, you'd think it could just say "breastmilk only", but some guy might have to type "breast" at work, and you know, that just wouldn't be cool.  They don't even call it a lactation room.  They call it a mother's room.  My guess is that someone is grossed out by the whole concept.

The lactation room is really just a curtained off area of the locker room, so I think people assume if no one is using it than it can be used for other things - like leg shaving. :)

Oh yeah - it is "Mother's room" here as well.

In my other job the lactation room was a bathroom. They tried to make it nice with a rocking chair and magazines but you faced a toilet!  Also, only mom's were supposed to use the room and sometimes they would "use" the room!  I hated pumping knowing someone could have used the toilet just a few feet from me.

I guess if I had to choose I would choose the leg hair over the toilet. :)
