I used to just upload my photos and sort them into folders that I made myself. Sometimes they were just one event, like "Christmas 2009", or other times more general like "Spring 2010". My computer guy was here a few weeks ago and set up the computer to automatically upload photos when the camera is connected, and to sort them into folders by date taken. This was fine until I realized I suddenly had a MILLION folders and I can't find anything now! Some folders only have like 2-3 photos in them (since they are based on date taken) and this is officially driving me crazy.
I'm thinking of going back to my old ways but I want to hear your ideas before I start this process because I'm sure I will have to dedicate an entire afternoon to organizing! UGH! (I thought this digital stuff was supposed to make life easier!??!!)
How do you sort and organize your digital files?
Re: Digital Photo Files- help!
I used to sort them by date but the same thing happened to me - I couldn't find anything! Now I pretty much do what you used to do "Christmas 2009", "Soph 9 Months", "Zoo Spring 2010", etc.
Not perfect, but much easier!
I am in desperate need of reorganizing mine, but this is how I do it too. Trouble is after Alexa was born everything went into the "Alexa" file and now there are probably 2,000 photos in there...ekkk. I think I am going to reorganize by year and then do subfolders - Summer '10, Zoo '10, Christmas '10, etc.
