They spelled my sons last name wrong in his Sr. Yearbook!

I'm still fuming and he got it on Friday.  My son was so upset.  It's his Senior Yearbook!  I'm even more pissed becuase they sent home a piece of paper early in the year that we both had to sign to verify that they had the correct spelling of his name.  They got it right every other year he's been in High School, and they got it right on everything else this year.  Just the freaking yearbook!  I feel so bad!

Re: They spelled my sons last name wrong in his Sr. Yearbook!

  • I was on yearbook for three years and Editor my Sr. year. I know it's frustrating but even when you're being diligent about making sure all of those names and copy is correct it is possible to miss something. I felt horrible if something came back that I missed correcting before the final print. I know it's a big deal now and I'm not wanting to minimize that but I really don't know many people who bust out their yearbooks down the road. Kwim? I'm sorry.

  • That sucks. I remember they forgot to put a guy I went to high school with picture in his senior yearbook. To make it "better" they gave him a half page spread in the back of  the next year's book. Which I don't think made it better because most of those people had no idea who he was.

  • That is crummy but it does happen.  I was yearbook sponsor for 2 years and even though we had no spelling errors there was one snafu.  A girl a couple of years below my DD's grade got cancer and died in the fall of the school year.  Instead of putting her in the class photo (which I thought would be weird) we gave her a whole page with her picture and the tree and seating area they made in her memory.  Her mother was very upset that she was not included in the class photo pages. Personally, I would have appreciated my child being remembered by having a whole page dedicated to her and about her.  This mom wanted both.  Taught me to ask in the future when things like that happen.  The pp is right though...people that do look at his book won't really notice it unless brought to their attention.  They left off a few of the activities I was in...but now years down the road it really isn't a big deal.  It is still irritating.  They should give him his book free!  How did they misspell his name...first - middle - or last?
  • I know exactly how you feel.  The idiot photographer sent in the wrong pic for Britt's sr yearbook....it was actually the worst pic out of all of them.  I even have proof they sent the wrong one but he insists that he was right.

  • It was his last name, they put an extra letter in it.  It is a slightly complicated Italian last name but nothing too bad.  I just feel bad for the kid, he was really upset.

Kris, I remember you posting about the mistake with Britt's picture which is why the 1st thing I did was look at the picture.  lol

  • The fact that he's upset about it makes me sad. Sending him a virtual hug.

  • Poor kid. First name would have been much worse though...
  • As much as it sucks, typos happen. It's easy to accidently add a letter to a name. I do feel bad for your DS, though.

This is exactly what happened to me in my senior yearbook. It wasn't the phtog though, it was the editor. The pic they put in the yearbook was one where I had one eye closed and the other eye half open. It was OBVIOUS that it was the wrong picture. I still hold a grudge about it b/c I think the girl did it on purpose.
