Stage 1 vs. 2 ?

My DDs are currently eating stage 1 (gerber) foods. They are a little over 7 months old. When did you start feeding your LOs level 2 foods?

My pedi hasn't mentioned going up a stage and we don't see her again til they're 9 months.

Also, when are you able to give them stuff like yogurt? Does it have to be "baby brands" or can you give them plain varieties of "adult" kinds??

Thanks!

Re: Stage 1 vs. 2 ?

  • At our 9 month visit we got the green light to move to Stage 2 and said we could move to Stage 3 soon after that.  I think if I had called to ask them earlier they might have told us to switch sooner.  I didn't notice much difference between Stage 1 and 2 except the jars are bigger.

I started yogurt at 12 months but I don't know what the rule is for yogurt, it could be before then.  We still give Yo Baby yogurt and have not tried any regular brands for them.

  • The only difference in stage 1 and 2 is that 1)the jars are bigger and 2)some have mixed food (like apple and blueberry) and as long as they have had applesauce, you know if they have reaction it is to the blueberry. I think some pedis say 9 months for yogurt, we started at 8 months, it varies like everything from doctor to doctor. If you have worked through all the stage 1 then I would go up to stage 2.

We started yogurt after 9 months but neither of the girls really love it.  I can sometimes get Lauryn to eat some, but Ava just turns her head.  And I buy the yobaby.

  • We went right to stage 2 because they are bigger jars and I was able to split them up and save some money.  The pedi said there isn't any difference other than some of the stage 2 are mixed so to be sure we tried all the single ones first.  As for yogurt we were told 8 months and all of mine love it!  We use the kind that has the fruit and veggie mixed in.
