    Agreed.

  • I love Samantha. I would have picked that name for DD, but our last name is 10 letters long and Samantha would be long to learn to write with it.  I have 4 friends with dogs named Bailey, so that name always reminds me of a dog's name.

  • I prefer Bailey of your two choices. Samantha sounds really 80's to me.
  • I don't really like either.

Samantha is very 80's to me.

Bailey is a dog, not a person.

    Sorry.

  • I like Samantha better-like pp said, Baily is a dog name =)
  • Samantha!

Ditto on Bailey! But I have a dog name Sammie too. So either way I think they are both dog names. Unless except of course you become an insistant mother that she be called Samantha only and not sammie or sammy for short.

  • Bailey is an ugly name for anything, but it is best-suited to a dog. And I've known lots of dogs that went by this, so apparently that opinion is common.

Samantha is by far the better of the two and I actually do like it because it is a familiar name that has not been over-used.

  • Neither are my style. But if you are stuck on these two names PLEASE use Samantha. Bailey is a dogs name.

  • Samantha, hands down.  Bailey is a dog name to me.
  • Samantha for sure!! Has been on my list for a very long time. :)
  • I prefer Bailey to Samantha actually.

I don't understand "it's a dogs name" comments.  Lots of people name their pets names that they like, ones they would use for children except they don't work with their last name or one parent or the other doesn't like it enough to give it to a child.  I have known dogs/cats with people names (Bailey, Sammie (Samantha), Kelly, Fred) and I have known people (who were successful adults) with names you would expect to hear for pets (Butch, Buster), I don't really think on has any relation to the other.

  • I prefer Samantha, love that name.

  • I like Samantha much better than Bailey. Of course, I might be biased because my SIL's dog is Bailey, so I can't get past it being a dog name.

  • This is odd to me because these names seem completely different in style.  Anyway, I vote Samantha by a long long long shot.

  • I like both a lot. I don't think '80s when I hear Samantha.Of course I was obsessed with American Girls (books and dolls) when I was little, so Samantha will forever be both classic and classy to me. :)

  • Bailey was super popular in the 90s in my area...I knew a few of them, and quite a few were brats, so Samantha gets my vote. It's on the rise because of Sex and the City, but it's an awesome name anyway.
