False Negatives?

Did anyone have a false negative when they tested?  I've used 2 different brands and both came up negative.

I'm at CD 30 (my average cycle is 27 and my longest has been 28) and 18 DPO.

I go to see my OBGYN Monday for my yearly, but wanted some to know if anyone else had expierence with a false negative.  My trainer mentioned it to me today at the gym.

 Thanks ladies :-)

Re: False Negatives?

  • I had a negative the first time I tested (CD28).... but 5 days later it was positive.  I would recommend using a digital too, if you didn't already.  That way there is no guessing if there is a line or not.   baby dust!!

  • I used an EPT digital last night and it was BFN.  I'll try again tomorrow morning and see what happens.  If still BFN I'll get a blood test monday morning.  Thanks :-)
  • If you're at the docs office anyway, they may want to check your thyroid (if it hasn't been checked in a while) just to make sure things are working correctly.  If they are drawing bloodwork anyway, then it's not a big deal to run a pregnancy test too.  Something to keep in mind.  I didn't get a BFN but I also waited about 8-10 days after I was supposed to have my monthly show up.  I wasn't completely convinced I was pregnant in part because the previous month had been so stressful at work so I wanted to make sure it wasn't stress delaying things and reduce my risk of a BFN.  I didn't use digital because I haven't found anything that shows me that they are more accurate.  (Silly me I want real numbers as in test A detects down to X amount of hormone and test B detects down to Y amount of hormone.)
  • I am always a 28 day girl too.  But if you have had a stressful month or sick, it can make you ovulate late.  Unless you're charting and have a confirmed ovulation date from that, you might have had delayed ovulation.  So you might just be testing early.
  • Thanks ladies.  I'll have my thyroid checked.  I had it checked last year, and they said it was a little low, but nothing to worry since it wasn't 'bad'.

I guess I'll find out Monday what's going on.  I don't think last month was too stressful with work, but I'm use to it being a lot worse so maybe that could have been it.

     Thanks for the advice :-)

  • Good Luck! Keep us updated! *Baby Dust* coming your way!!

This! I ovulated 2 weeks late a few months ago out of nowhere as I was always like "clockwork". It just might be too early to test. GL!
