Anyone know if it's safe to swim in a lake?

Weird question, but does anyone know if it's safe to swim in a lake when you are pregnant?  Last time I was pregnant, DH made a comment that he didn't want me to go swimming in a lake because of the bacteria.  Assuming that testing in the lake has shown that bacteria levels are safe and it's open to the public for swimming, does anyone know if there's any real danger?  I'm thinking of taking DH to a lake to picnic, go boating, and swim for father's day but it'll be so hot that I don't want to go if I can't go swimming.

I don't see why not unless you're leaking fluid.  That's the standard for swimming in general from my Dr.  I'm sure there are public pools worse than lake water.

yup...lakes are fine......just dont drink tons of the water

I was out boating/being pulled on a raft the day before I got my BFP and I'm certain it's okay.

I think it's fine too.  Just try to avoid drinking the water.

When you're pregnant, your cervix closes to keep out all the bacteria, germs and other bad stuff. You can swim in a lake, a pool, the ocean or where ever else you want. Like PPs said, just try not to swallow too much water - but that's good advice to ANYONE.

Usually, unless you are drinking the water you swim in, bacteria in water will cause a skin rash. It cannot get into your ute and harm your baby.

I actually asked this last time I was pregnant, and was told it's fine. 

Like PP's said - just don't go drinking the water.  (Like you would anyway, right?)

are you drinking the lake water?  otherwise you are fine.
