It's not safe to keep Katie in the crib since she's so swift and climbing out and now in. I will take any and all tips on how to transition her to a big girl bed. (We're just converting her crib to a toddler bed for now.)
We didn't do anything special. He thought the big boy bed was cool so he was excited and he likes sleeping in there. He didn't sleep as good in his crib.
Maybe because she climbed out a few mos ago and I though we would have to transition, but she stopped climbing out so I held off til summer break. She's sick (ear infection and cough) and sleeping horribly...so maybe this is a bad time?
I still haven't transition dd's bed either. I really want to get the dressers attached to the walls first before I let her have free roam. Maybe I'll get that done this weekend.
we just switch straight to a big twin bed, i dont think there is much you can do to prepare her for it.. its more about preparing you to put her back in bed in the middle of the night.. my ds still gets off bed and we have t get him back in there everynight pretty much...

Ditto. It was rough a couple nights, but we put a doorknob cover on so she couldn't get out in the middle of the night, and made sure the room was completely babyproofed.

Yeah, I'd def. hold off until she's feeling better. Also, ditto to just switching to a twin bed. DD did just fine with it and was excited about her big girl bed. She switched in November and we've never had problems with her not sleeping well in it. Occasionally she creeps into our bed early in the morning, but hey, she's 3 and likes to cuddle. I'll take it while I can get it

Help her make the room transform to a big girl room. Make it a big deal and help her make the new bed, etc. I was worried, but it went super smooth.
Ditto, this. DH transitioned DD from her crib to a toddler bed the 1st night we were in our new house, then like 2 weeks later, he switched her into a big girl twin trundle bed. I was like, "Uhh! Wait! Whoa! Wow... she did great." LOL. He just wanted the crib out of the way as we unpacked LOL! She did awesome. Didn't roam the house or nothin'. Later on, when she would wake up at night (which was very rare) she would come directly to our room b/c she was scared of the rest of the house at night b/c it was dark.
we moved her crib to the toddler bed on a whim. Just did it one night.
She came out of the bed a few times each night for the first couple nights, but we just kept guiding her back to bed (or telling her she needed to get back in bed).
It's actually nice because in the morning she can just come to us, instead of calling to us and us having to get her. She brings ALL the stuffed animals in her bed and her pillow, blanket. It's so cute!!
Re: Since we're all so happy to post...Give me all your tips.
Hmm, why did I think you did that a long time ago.
I think she will do JUST fine. : )
