Good morning. If I store freshly pumped breastmilk in the fridge and then let warm to room temperature, how long is the breastmilk good for? Also, if I have 3 ounces in the bottle and she only eats two, can I save the last ounce? Or do o need to discard? And if I can save, does it need to go back in the fridge or can it stay at room temperature? Thanks in advance!!!
Re: How long is it good for?
Breastmilk is good for up to 8 hours at room temperature (but - I would not go past like 2- 3 if needed). If you have any leftover oz from a feeding I would not discard it. I would use it for the next feeding so long as it is within the next 2 hours. If you don't use it within that time then I would dump it. also - I would not put it back in the fridge becuase it loses some properties every time you warm it up. So - just leave it at room temp. and serve as is.
