Speaking of cat food

Monkey has always been a puker, but it's gotten to the point where he pukes everyday, sometimes multiple times. We only put down one serving, so we know he's not gorging. He's seen the vet, and the vet says he's fine,  just change his food. We've also gotten really good at not letting stray things lie around as he will eat anything (rubber bands, plastic bags, fuzz, etc.) Usually these items can be found in said puke, but lately there is only food or bile.

Do any of you have puker cats? What brand do you feed them? (even if they're not pukers, I want to know.)

  • My fat cat (18+ lbs) eats Purina One Healthy Weight Management.. he hasnt lost any weight, but he hasnt gained any MORE which is good. He is not a puker, but he used to get hairballs alot.. We started shaving his hair and he hasn't had a hair ball in probably over a year, if not more. Could that potentially be beneficial for your puker, getting a hair cut??

I have a puker.  She pukes at least once a day, sometimes more.  She is on Eagle Holistic select.  (But this actually seems to have made the puking worse.)

She had stopped puking daily when I had her on Blue Buffalo.  But it was causing her to get ear infections/ allergy problems more regularly.

Next bag I buy will probably be some form of a limited ingredient diet.  I think Blue Buffalo just came out with one.

She has also been on a number of the cheaper foods(Purina indoor, Meow Mix, etc.), Science Diet, Nutro natural choice, and Iams.  None of those  worked at all and caused more skin problems.

FYI, my vet said to give a laxative type med like Laxaire or Laxatone daily to help with hairballs if that was the reason for puking.  It didn't help in my case, but might in yours.  (My cat isn't puking up hair, just food.)

  • Where do you get Blue Buffalo food?

One of my cats throws up too, and not from hairballs or gorging.  I think she may just have a sensitive stomach.  I have the on Purina Pro Plan Indoor.

  • He's a shorthair, and we've yet to see any hairballs in it (well not HIS hair- he eats mine and DD's if there are strands lying around) I will look into a limited ingredient product to see if it helps.

    Thanks for the recs!

Petsmart, Petco, Petsupermarket.  I think possibly even TSC carries it.
