Another carseat question, britax

EMTEMT member
DD is probably 28 lbs and 38 inches so nowhere near the height/weight requirements of her boulevard. It seems like the shoulder strap is already too low for her and it's on the highest setting. Anyone else have this problem? I'm wondering if she just has an extremely long torso and short legs?Poor girl :)Any recommendations on a replacement (keeping in mind that I'd like to eventually fit 3 seats across if I can convince DH to have a third) ;)

I think we will run into this same problem with DS. So we are getting the Sunshine Kids Radian for DS and saving the Boulevard for the new baby to use rear facing. And as a bonus we can fit 3 of those across in our car incase we do have another one down the road.
  • Michelle is 39 inches & has about another 1-2 inches or so to grow (butt to shoulder) before the strap is below her shoulder.  She's about 32 lbs...I dont know what I'm gonna do if she outgrows the strap before she reaches 40lbs...we have the Blvd too.

  • Hmm...Are you sure it's adjusted as high as it will go? DH thought DD had outgrown ours recently, too, but forgot that it adjusts higher by using the knob on the side. My DD has a fairly long torso (and is 42" overall) and still has several inches left.

And if you really do want a replacement, you'd actually get longer use (even if she still fits in the Blvd) out of a Sunshine Kids Radian- AND the radian is the slimmest out there and can usually fit 3 across most cars.

  • my just 3 year old is 29lbs and just about 40 inches.  she's on the top shoulder strap, too.  no clue what we're going to do....

Krisbri, the britax site says the shoulder height is between 12 and 16 inches. I'm going to go home and measure her...just weird because she is not on the tall side. I know boys that are much taller than her that are still in there blvds. I'm gonna verify it's at it's highest (it is slightly hard to tell because of it's setup) but Im almost 100% that it is.COKT congrats on the healthy surprise!!!!

EM I will check that although I thought that knob was just for the headrest? I'm sure it's user error because she is not freakishly long-torsoed from what I can tell ;). Don't want to replace if I don't have to so I'm hoping I can figure it out. Thanks!
  • yes double check the knob thingie.  I made that mistake a few months ago.

There's the problem, then!! The knob is for both the head rest AND the harness straps Big Smile The head rest should be at right about her chin level and the straps should be just above her shoulders. I think when you check it out you'll be able to adjust it so it fits her :)
  • Yep- I have the same seat- the knobs also adjust the straps :)

Oh and 3 of those suckers fit across my back seat.  JUST FYI!!!!!!
