New Orleans Babies

I'm coming to NO Sun-travel tips/ideas?

I've never been to New Orleans before and will be coming there this Sun-Sat. DH has a work conference so he'll be tied up all day Mon-Thurs. DD (11mos) and I will have the days to ourselves....any ideas of what we should see/do?  She still naps twice a day so I basically have 2 hour chunks throughout my days. We're staying near the convention center if that helps at all. DH has off Friday so we'll have a whole day as a family to do something as well. Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!

  • Keep in mind I'm not 100% sure if these are age-appropriate for an 11-month old just yet:)  But close to where you are staying are the insectarium and aquarium.  You can also take a ferry boat from the aquarium to the zoo.  All these sites are part of https://www.auduboninstitute.org/.  Also nearby is the Louisiana Children's Museum, https://www.lcm.org/.  City Park has a fun play area called Storyland, https://neworleanscitypark.com/storyland_kids.html.  There are other things there as well, which you can find on the link.

You may also be interested in a couple of great festivals in the French Quarter that happen to land during your stay.  This weekend is Oyster Fest, https://www.neworleansoysterfestival.org/.  Next weekend there are three festivals in one, all in the French Quarter. Louisiana Seafood Festival, Zydeco Fest, and Creole Tomato Festival.  If you've never had a creole tomato it's only available in this region, and only during summer.  They're delicious.  I eat BLTs weekly while they are in season, among other things.  You should also try the Drago's charbroiled oysters.

I hope this helps!  Also remember the weather down here can get pretty hot and humid.  Enjoy your trip!!!  The food down here is awesome.
