Blueberries causing weird poop in LO?

Ok this may be TMI, but DS ate a bunch of blueberries yesterday with lunch.  This morning he pooped, and it was really dark in color (almost black) and kind of a weird consistency (not pasty, more flaky or something).  I can see some blueberry skin in it, too.  Whenever I see dark stool I freak out that it could be blood, but I think I can attribute this to the blueberries.  WDYT?

Re: Blueberries causing weird poop in LO?

  • No worries, ds had blueberries this week too and he had black poop too. I mentioned it to my so too( ds's poop is always a hot topic in this house lol).

FYI - chickpeas makes gross poop too! I wont go into details lol

  • Sounds like DD when she eats blueberries.  Just wait until you feed him broccoli and blueberries in the same meal.  You have to see it to believe it.
  • Definitely blueberries cause weird poop.  I have seen a whole blueberry once as well.

  • My kiddo gets the same thing when he eats blueberries. And it STINKS. I almost don't want to feed them to him anymore because it is that bad!
  • That soiunds right.  DS hasn't had blueberries yet, but he has had strawberries... and they often give him stools like what you're describing.
