Jack-in-the-box: bad idea.

Today I went to Target for diapers and cruised through the toy section.  They had 2 jack-in-the-boxes, and I showed one to Ian and played it for him.  He laughed when it popped up, so I did it a couple more times and each time he laughed harder and harder.

Tonight after dinner we played with it, and it made him cry.

I should have bought Mr. Potato Head.

  • Sometimes when my LO is tired the toys he normally likes makes him cry. I think maybe the sound is too loud or maybe he just isn't in the mood for it. When he is well rested he likes the toy again. Or you can try to get the packaging and try to return it.

  • Oh no! We've had that same experience before with toys where he loved it once and was scared of it the next time.

On a sidenote, has your DS started his speech therapy yet? We finally had our first meeting with our speech therapist today but it was more of a get to know each other session so they didn't really work on anything.

  • My DS loves his.  To the point of annoyance!  He is always wanting me to shove the thing back in there and shut it.

He has not.  We had a big initial review a week and a half ago, where they gave me this big packet of information and gave me contact info for our service coordinator and a nutritionist.  The appt with the nutritionist was last week, and I just wondered today why I hadn't heard from the service coordinator; I need to call her to figure out when my next appt is and with who.  He DID say "tractor" at his big eval a couple of weeks ago when I pointed it out in a book and said it. . .it sounded like "ACK-ER" but hey, something's better than nothing!

It seems like the process takes forever to finally get started. We qualified about 2 months ago and we are still waiting for a developmental therapist to add him to his/her caseload.

That is awesome that he said tractor!! I hope everything moves quickly for you from here on out as you wait to be assigned to therapists!
