What are your thoughts on "shirtless" men?

And I am not talking about hot guys on the cover of a magazine, I am talking about Joe Schmoe walking down the street shirtless for no obvious reason. And heck, even men working on the roads or in their own yards.

I don't know why, but for some reason it makes me uncomfortable. Doesn't matter if they are young or old or thin or fat or hot or not-so-hot, I just don't want to see it. Am I the only one who feels that way?

  • If you've got it, flaunt it.   However, I'm more uncomfortable with women working in their sports bras...

The BF does it when he is working out on the farm.   Its hawt.   :D

  • I'm with you.  I think any man needs to have a shirt on, even (God-forbid) a muscle shirt or tank.  Regardless of the 'hotness,' I think a shirt is necessary.

I especially hate when it's some dude walking down the street with his shirt in his back pocket or hanging around his neck.

  • Well....if Matthew McConaughey (sp) or Bradley Cooper wanna do yard work shirtless, I can promise I won't feel uncomfortable ;-)

I don't get uncomfy or anything.  I get a bit jealous.  lol

  • I think it's kinda weird to just "walk around that way" but if you have a reason, why not? It's similar to my mowing in the sports bra question the other day. It's not like I'd roam about town in my sports bra, but it is nice to mow in one, since it's so hot. DH wears a shirt when he mows, but I don't think twice about a man mowing without a shirt on (unless, of course, he has an amazing body!). I'd think it was weird if he just wanted to hang out all the time in our yard without a shirt on, though, just like it would be weird for me to hang out in our yard in a sports bra (or bikini top).
  • My DH often takes his shirt off when working in the yard or mowing the lawn.

    I wish he would though.....

I love him but he should put a shirt on, I'll leave it at that.

  • DH takes his shirt off when he's working outside or mowing the lawn. I don't really care. He also sometimes takes his off when he's working. He's a mason and when its 90 degrees out, it happens. If I had to work 10 hours in that heat, I'd want to strip to my underwear, so I guess I think going shirtless is no big deal. Its not like he's on the side of the road, though.

Walking around randomly with no shirt is strange, though.

  • No.  Hot men, yes, but as a general rule of thumb, no.

Not even the hot guy running down the street because nobody looks good shirtless and running.  Well, maybe a few people, but mostly not.

  • There was a dad at the park last weekend shirtless and DH and I could not get over how strange it was.  First of all, it was only about 80 and not humid.  Nowhere near hot enough to justify no shirt in public, and even if it was 120 and humid, really, I think at a little kids' park you need to keep a shirt on, right?
  • Own yard, whatever, man's home is his castle.  Walking by my house, I prefer a shirt on anyone whose doctor has to talk to them about the health risk of obesity.
  • My neighbor is out right now sitting on his back patio with no shirt on. The reflection of the moon is shining off of his buddha belly.

  • working in their own yard-doesn't bother me (ok maybe a little if they are fat and hairy or otherwise very unattractive)

walking down the street shirtless for no obvious reason-I just think they are a huge loser (and trashy)

  • The guys installing the roof on the house across from me 2 weeks ago? Yes  The 60 year old man 2 houses down working in his yard? No
  • I have no problem with shirtless men as long as they are working anywhere or lounging on their own property.  I don't care how they look physically.  My son-in-law mows shirtless to "get a tan".  It's about the only time he can do so with 2 young kids.  My oldest DS works concrete.  In 80+ weather I would never expect someone to work hard labor and keep a shirt on.  I know I couldn't even do that kind of labor in that kind of heat...with or without clothes on.  Walking down the sidewalk or at the park...they need a shirt on.
