1. get rid of the TV- MAJOR feng shui faux pas. creates horrible energy
2. bed placement: area furthest from door ~ diagonal with door if possible. you shouldn't SEE the bed first thing while walking in- don't place it in a corner or angled. Both partners should be able to SEE the door- but the door should not be in front of the bed. Do not place a bed in front of a window- a bed should be behind a solid wall- with equal sides on both sides of the bed- (equillibrium enhancing-) ~ so a nightstand on both sides with lamps of the same size etc
3. balance colors and materials with the different elements (water, fire, earth etc)
4. always close interior doors at night- (bathroom, closets)
5. a headboard should be of wood (not metal) to achieve a 'solid and stable relationship'
6. Never should a 'single seating' chair be placed in a master bedroom ~ either two chairs or a loveseat (promotes couple-ness)
Living room:
1. placement of seating is the MOST important when it comes to living rooms- your main seating should never face the entrance/ however never have your back to the entrance of the room ~ a circular seating arrangement is always optimal-
2. TV's and other audio visual equiptment should NOT have a central position in the room
3. Mirrors are essential to feng shui placement- adds additional lighting when positioned correctly
4. never have dark corners - lighting is important
5. biggest thing with ANY room in FS is to be clutter free as it is an energy killer.
Aaawwwwweeeeesome. I should have known you'd have the information. LOL
This is great! I hate clutter so sounds like I'm off to a good start there. Very interesting and going to be difficult to arrange furniture in the new place to achieve everything but I know it's good.
It's very bad to have anything under beds too, right?

Also - I know neither is ideal but if you had to put a computer desk (tall with hutch) in either the Master Bedroom or in the Dining Room (along with dining table), which would you go with? Dining Room?

plants are suppose to be good for rounding off corners and a water element--small fountain is suppose to be good too. there has to be a web site right??
there are TONS of websites out there. A lot of them VERY VERY poorly (in my opinion) explain what FS really is-
I used to be super into FS- our bedroom is decorated very zen and FS (probably only room in our house that hasn't been over taken)-
I refuse to keep anything in my bedroom that isn't essential to harmony- I only keep one book on my night stand- (limit the clutter)- laundry isn't stored in our bedroom- etc.
our bedroom is very 'wood' heavy- we have A LOT of wood in our bedroom (dark cherry) ~ however wood furniture is actually considered dead wood- which has little to no Chi. So to compensate- I decorated the room with 'wood' colors- /green for a healthy balance-
If you want to learn ANYTHING about FS- i would suggest start learning about the five elements and how to decorate with them- just by making very small changes to a room - (i think) helps with major changes to ones outlook/attitude/overall mental well being. If you are going to focus on ANY room- I would first suggest a master bedroom- for obvious reasons. THEN the dining room/kitchen and then a living room.
Learning to use the five elements is usually the beginner steps to FS- then focus on placement /bagua.

after looking at a million bad websites-
this is a pretty decent one- explains easy-
I started with the elements page and you can navigate around the site from there- including checking out different tips for different rooms.
