Am I the only one who didn't know this? You can't take a stroller in the dressing rooms, even the family dressing or the handicap one.
It's a fire hazard.
Why it's not a fire hazard to take the same stroller in the restroom, they couldn't say. Or why it's not a fire hazard to take a wheelchair in there even if your stroller is smaller than a wheelchair.
I don't usually take the kids when I try on clothes because it's easier not to, but I have done it from time to time. I've never gotten any comments about taking a stroller in the fitting room at Macys.
Any other stores with anti-stroller policies I should know about?
Re: No strollers in Target dressing rooms?
Well yes, and I realize that a wheelchair is an absolute need in most cases unlike the stroller. But in terms of size, many strollers are smaller than a wheelchair... so if a wheelchair can fit in there without being a fire hazard then a stroller is not a fire hazard either.
I'm sure it's just an excuse so they don't have to say they're worried about shoplifting. But frankly I'd rather them search my stroller so I could just buy a freaking swimsuit.
I have done this too.
I think that Target may be cracking down on their dressing room policies or something. The last two times I've been there trying on clothes, I've had to leave my cart several feet from the dressing room area... not right by the desk where I'd always left it before. They said it was a fire hazard.

That sucks... I've used their dressing rooms for nursing several times and taken the stroller in with me. (290@hollister)
However, this now gives me a reason that I didn't go try something on with DH. lol I just hate the hassle, but if their policy is that strollers aren't allowed in the dressing rooms... I couldn't try it on anyway!
The bigger question is how they expect you to buy a swimsuit by only trying on 6 pieces at a time???
Ditto and I was just at Kohl's last week and walked by TWO employees right by the dressing room and was never told anything.
It was the 290 @ Hollister store!
Weird. I don't go to that one quite as often anymore since they built the one off i10/Taylor, but that used to be my go-to Target! It wouldn't surprise me at all if they started doing that to try and thwart theft, but I'm with you... Search my stroller, it won't hurt my feelings! Not to mention, if they paid attention to what you were taking in there (# of items, etc) it wouldn't be a problem regardless!
The fire hazard excuse is BS - if that were the case, NO stores would allow them. Not at Nordstrom, Macy's, Dillards, or anywhere else.
If it's b/c they've had problems with theft, they need to just say "it's part of our theft prevention policy" instead of lying about the fire code.
