When does the pain go away..

I chose to stop breastfeeding/pumping due to lack of supply. I just wasnt producing enough milk for my LO and it was getting too stressful and frustrating. I stopped two days ago, and only now have started to get engorged. It is starting to hurt and i can only imagine how bad it is going to get. How did you ladies deal with it and how long did it last?

  • I have heard you can try sudafed to help dry you out.

  • I'm dealing w/  the same thing and would love to know.

I manually pumped 1-2x/day the past 3 days.  I got about an ounce (woo hoo) from my left and nothing (ever) from my right.  I am starting to get pretty sore.  I bought an electric pump which I'm sure would be more successful getting what milk I have out but it's expensive and if I won't be pumping long term seems a little silly to keep stimulating supply too.  Its like I want to pump enough to not get engorged/clogged but not so much that it keeps what little supply I have coming.  I'm actually calling my lac consultant about it tomorrow.

  • I was told to wear tight sports bras day/night.  I was also told cabbage leafs help.  Don't take hot showers or do anything to bring warmth to your breasts.  Pain meds were available if I needed them.  I hope it passes soon.  Good luck.
