2nd Trimester

Vent: Not showing much?

This is probably silly, but I'm just under 20 weeks now and until recently have been glad I'm not obviously showing.

Then, this weekend I went garage-saling for baby stuff and ended up having to deal with friendly chitchat in which the fact that I'm expecting came out.

I don't think there was a single person that didn't feel the need to make comments about how I didn't look pregnant at all, ect. Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable making comments on any stranger's belly but it started to aggravate me after awhile.

How is anyone else in the same situation dealing with this? I mostly just just smiled and ignored it.  :-/

Re: Vent: Not showing much?

  • I am going through the same thing. I'm 18 weeks and still don't show. I have the smallest little bump and can only see it when completely naked. I do get tired of people staring at me when I tell them how far along I am but most of the time I'm glad I'm not really showing. I think we will both show at least some at some point in the near future. Smile

  • I love to hear "you are 5 months, you dont look that big!" Most of the time I hear "you're gonna be HUGE" or "are you pregnant with twins!"

I just answer, really my dr thinks I'm doing great!

  • Thanks guys! It helps to feel "normal". In reality, most of the time, I am very happy not showing yet (I know it's coming) but it was weird to have so many strangers look at me oddly.
  • I haven't shown at all really until this week, still barely though. No one realizes I am pregnant and always comment on how tiny I am. But it doesn't bother me. This is my first pregnancy and I knew I would probably show later because I know my body. I actually don't mind the comments because when you pop, you really pop and then no more regular clothes fit, you get uncomfortable. So enjoy the comments for now!!

  • I didn't start showing until just this week and all of a sudden I have gone through a major growth spurt.  Now people can definitely tell I am pregnant.  It will come I was feeling the same way.  My DH even said wow you really have grown this last week (um thanks DH) haha.

Edit:  With my 1st pregnancy, strangers couldn't really tell I was pregnant until about 24-26 weeks.  My cousin's dr told her that with your 2nd pregnancy, you add about 3 to 4 weeks on to what you really are w/ the 2nd and that is how much you are showing and how you should  be feeling.

  • I am still waiting for my bump to arrive but I don't mind because I haven't had to buy maternity clothes yet.

Someone posted a few months back about this same thing and I loved her response. "If i don't look pregnant than I must look fat!" hehe I'm at week 24 almost and barely show. I just took a picture and I'm very happy that I don't show because I really don't want to answer everyones question about being pregnant. They don't know unless I tell them. So I may be pregnant but If they don't know then IM NOT PREGNANT hahahaha. yay. I put my pictures up on my profile on here too.
