C-Section Mama's

I had my c-section on 5/26 and a visiting nurse came to my house yesterday and informed that I have a small opening Sad.  Has this happened to anyone else and what, if anything, does your dr do about it?  I have to go to Drs office on Tuesday.

  • Mine opened up a little bit too.  Most openings are just superficial and aren't a big deal.  My doctor just had me take it easy.  He told me to clean it with peroxide just once to clean off germs but not to use it again because it will dry the skin out which will delay healing.  I then did wet-dry dressings on it which consist of getting a gauze wet with saline covering the open area and then putting a dry dressing over it.  I changed it daily.  The spot closed up within a week or so.  You want the area to be moist to help with healing.  You can get all the dressing supplies at the store.

  • My doctor made an opening when my incision got infected. It closed back up on its own.
  • The nurse who came to my house just put steri strips on it to help keep it closed.

  • Yikes! How would I know if it opened? I have another week before going to the Dr but a little paranoid about this.

  • My cousin noticed her tear because she had her husband check her incision line.  The nurse told me to either stand in front of a mirror or grab a hand held one.  Since I had just got home Saturday, I didn't think of it and by Sunday the nurse spotted the tear.
  • Thanks for the responses!  I couldn't help but stress the fact that I have a tear.
