How do you entertain LO?

When LO is wide awake, what kinds of things do you do to entertain him/her?

Re: How do you entertain LO?

  • we have a play mat with little toys that hang above him and we'll sit there and rattle them or do tummy time.  sometimes we just hold him and make faces and talk to him or read a book to him.

  • Sing, play guitar, read books. We have a book called Baby Play that we get fun little ideas from.

We sing and dance, I read books to him, we play peek-a-boo with a mirror.  Sometimes I hold him in my lap facing me and say nursery rhymes while clapping his hands or feet.

Oh that's cute I'm going to start doing that!

  • We play. I read, sing, and talk to them. We go outside for a walk and I talk to them. Anything pretty much.

  • At that age, it was mostly talking to her, singing to her, and showing her toys with contrasting colors. They say at that age your face is their favorite toy.
  • Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I haven't thought of reading to him yet. I think I may start doing that before bedtime. He's finally starting to get on a semi-routine instead of just randomly passing out all day long. LOL! :) He loves his play mat, but he also loves to spit up on it and our darn huggies newborn diapers are a little too big for him so if he hasn't spit up on it, his diaper has leaked on it. I swear, I've washed it 5 times this week.
  • I do "baby circuit training", or at least that's what I call it.  I set up stations around the room and move him from thing to thing as he gets bored with it.  His playmat with toys dangling above him (this is his fave), his vibrating bouncy chair w/ lights and music, his swing, and a tummy time station.  I play with him at each thing and encourage him and let him know I'm there.
