Babies: 0 - 3 Months

do you take LO back...

when others hold your baby and he/she cries? or do you let them try to get used to being held by other people?  i have a hard time letting ds cry, especially when i know he just wants me to hold him.

I let him cry a little, but will take him back before he gets upset.

  • He LOVES to be held by anyone. The only reason why he would cry is if he pooped himself or needs to eat. He will even fall asleep on anyone.
  • It depends who is holding my LO.  If it is my mom or sister I will let them comfort my LO because they see him very often so he is comfortable with them.  Anyone other relatives I offer to take him back and tell them I will give him back once he calms down.  Most people want to give him to me or DH once he gets upset so I don't really have to take him they are usually shoving him at me LOL.

  • I take her back if she is upset. If she is being fussy I just go sit down next to them and try to comfort her.

  • i take him back. my family tends to hand him right over, the ILs don't like to give him back even after being asked to multiple times. . . friends hand him right over too. once he is content again - we try again.

  • It depends on why he's crying. If he's hungry I'll offer to feed him or let them feed him. If I know some other reason I'll just tell them so they can calm him down (because usually it's a family member who would like to do so). If he's fussy and I don't know why or he just wants to cuddle or something I'll take him back.
  • I take her back. Well, people usually hand her back to me. Which I'm ok with.

  • It depends on who is holding him. If they give them back to me, I'll take them but if it's someone comfortable and able to calm them down, I let them. If one of them is crying for longer than a couple minutes, I usually offer to take them because I hate hearing them cry.

  • So far she has only cried if it's time to eat again and then I take her back.  But she'll fall asleep on anyone and so far has had no problem "playing" with my mom and sister during awake times.

  • It just depends who it is and what kind of cry it is.

If she just fusses and she's with a family member or someone I know can calm her down (my dad can calm any baby!), I'll let them deal with it.

If its just one of my friends or someone not really familiar with babies or her, or she starts doing her "hungry" cry, I'll take her back. (Or if its someone I didn't want to hold her to begin with, I'll use it as an excuse to take her back hehe)
