Diaper Rash

It seems like every time we get done with one diaper rash, another one rears it's ugly head! Does anyone have any advice on how to avoid diaper rash? My poor little man's butt....

Re: Diaper Rash

  • air his tushy out as much as possible.  i let DS lay on a changing pad for at least 10 mins just airing out.  i do put a light cloth over his penis just in case.

  • Our pedi office suggested making our own diaper rash cream combination. Make sure you have the Desitin w/ 40% zinc oxide and then combine it with A&D ointment. Then put that on every time you change the diaper. The zinc oxide will heal the rash that's already there and the A&D will protect from further rash. We had very bad rash and this healed it within 24 hours and we haven't had any rash since then.
  • our pedi told us to use the desitin with the highest zinc level to clear the rash & then told us to use vaseline as a barrier at every change. LO hasn't had a rash since either. 1ht.
