I am considering buying a Moby. I looked at BRU yesterday and they seem so complicated! For those of you who use it and like it, what are the advantages? Any drawbacks? Is it worth the money?? TIA!
They are definitely worth the money. The wrapping seems complicated at first but it is really easy once you get the hang of it. I get DS wrapped in it in no time. The drawback is that it can get pretty hot caring your LO in it. I only use it in air conditioning for that reason. The pro is that DS loves it and falls asleep within minutes of being in it. I also can get stuff done.
It's super easy to wrap if you just follow instructions. I practiced once or twice and had it down. For sure worth it, LO loves it and sleeps really well.

Like PPs said, totally worth it. And, yes, it does seem complicated at first, but once you've done the wrapping a few times, you really get the hang of it. There are videos on youtube that instruct on how to wrap if that's easier than the instruction booklet itself.
I'm really cheap and just as crafty so I made my "Moby" for $6.00.
Pros- hands free to do just about everything. Even breastfeeding! I nursed DD through Walmart while shopping. Versatile. You can do many holds, including back carry, so it grows with your child's needs. I tuck DD's feet up and cover them. This is really nice so her legs aren't exposed and her hips aren't being stretched open since there is nothing between her legs.
Cons- While its really easy to wrap after a little practice I hate letting the ends hit the floor. I wash my wrap twice a week with DD's clothes.
Overall I love my wrap and I seriously don't know what I'd do without it.
I also made my own. Buy 5 yards of material and you get 2 out of it for less ghan the price of one Moby. I bought woven gauze so it is much cooler than the jersey knit
If you go on youtube you can see how the wraps work, and they're not that hard once you get the hang of it.
I love the fact that DH and I can both wear her around the house, and she's happy while we're doing our thing.
DD went through a couple of phases where she didn't like it, but she's happiest sitting in her Moby facing out to the world. Oh, and the newborn cradle hold scared the crap out of me.
IMO it's worth the money. It's not for everyone, but a lot of people like it. You can also make one if you're crafty
