Freaking out: Can't feel IUD strings

Please help I am totally freaking out over here. DH and I have had sex twice this weekend (sorry for the TMI) and for some reason this morning I was feeling paranoid and thought I should check my strings.

I can't feel them! I have felt them before so it's not like I don't know what I'm looking for.

What should I do? Is this an emergency which I should call my doctor for right now, or wait until Tuesday when the office opens?

Is it possible my cervix is just higher up at this point in my cycle and that's why I can't feel them?

My last period was 5/13 in case that matters.

TIA for any replies!!!

  • I can't feel mine either .. of course, I don't check .. DH does.  If YKWIM? (Sorry, TMI LOL) He hasn't felt them in a couple of months & oddly, I'm not worried about it .... maybe I should call too?

That makes me feel a little bit better that you've never felt them. And no worries about the TMI! DH claims he's never been able to feel them, so I've had to check myself.

I have heard the strings can curl up against your cervix after a while, so hopefully it's just that for the both of us!

  • I had an IUD after my second daughter and I have another one now.  I am an odd ball and don't really feel for the strings.  The first time I had it I did a few times and never felt it.  I forgot why but the doctor said it was fine when I went in for my annual and told her about it.
  • I have an IUD and I don't check mine-- and DH said he felt them once and that was before she trimmed the strings, now he doesn't feel them at all...

I haven't been worried about that at all, until 2 days ago-- TLC was a little uncomfortable and now I am spotting/cramping a little.  Not an emergency type thing, so I didn't even think about calling.
