How long to get LO's SS Card?

We did the paperwork at the hospital and I'd like to wait to get his SSN to put on my insurance paperwork, but that paperwork needs to be submitted within 30 days so I'm wondering if I'll get his SSN by then? When did you get LO's SS card?

We just got ours this past Friday, and DD is 3 weeks old today.

The hospital told us about 6 weeks..it has yet to come in so I'm sure by week 6..

Maybe you can call the SS office?

Ours came in a week.

Are you sure you need it to register, though? We didn't need them for thw kids when we registered, although we did have to add it later.

It was something like 10-14 days before we got it. I was surprised it was so quick.
