Babies: 0 - 3 Months

I need to ask an extremely embarassing question...

I am 6 days PP, had no tearing, and my pp bleeding is not too bad. But what IS bad? I seem to have become incontinent. Pee comes out of me, when I don't feel like I have to pee. I'll just be walking and feel myself pee. Is this normal or did I break my bladder?!

  • this happened to my SIL, her DS is almost 2 and she still have bladder issues.  She's going to have some surgery to help it after she's done having kids.  In the mean time I'd just do kegals.

  • Sorry you're having trouble. Your muscles are weak. One word. Kegles. Start doing them. Good luck.

I have been kegaling. I'm hoping its just because my muscles are still weak from 2 hours of pushing.

  • That happened to me after the birth of my first son. It returned within a couple weeks, but while it was happening I was so thankful for those giant pads the hospital sends you home with-they caught most of it!

My doc said it was just from having a vaginal birth and that fact that I pushed for 3 hours. I had a c-section this time around, and it didn't happen, so I'm pretty sure thats what it was.

Yes, the giant pads are very useful :) I also just try to go whenever I think of it instead of waiting for the urge.

  • This happened to me as well it stopped about 2.5-3 weeks PP
  • I've been experiencing something similar. I don't pee myself, but I never feel like I have to pee. I just go every few hours because I know that I probably need to. Hoping the urge to pee comes back at some point!

  • My OB's office works with a physical therapist that specializes in pelvic floor stuff. I went while I was pregnant and it was awesome. Ask your OB about this if you're still having troubles at your 6 week PP appointment,

(or sooner if you want). And def. practice the kegels and pelvic tilts. good luck!

Definitely normal. Mine de erased a lot by 6 weeks. My doctor said it's normal to take up to 6 months to fully recover from the trauma of childbirth.

  • I'm having the same issues 3 weeks PP...I hear it gets better...just keep doing your kegels!

  • I did Kegels and they did nothing.  I put myself on a pee schedule- every 2 hours whether I had to go or not I sat on the toilet.  I normally ended up going.  Then there weren't any accidents.  Be happy it's only pee you're having a problem with... :-)
  • I'm in the same boat.  I all out peed my pants once in the hospital and twice when I got home.  I still pee a little when I sneeze or cough but not so much that a pad doesn't catch it.  Keegles definitely help but I'm going to be talking to my MW about it at my 6 week pp.  I've also been reading up on prolapsed bladders being a cause of urinary incontinence.  I'm hoping this isn't the case with me but it is a possibility.  Good luck.
