I BF her exclusively and she's gaining weight, doing well, etc...
I've been pumping twice a day, at first to get my supply established per the LC I met with, and now to have some back up in the fridge for if I'm out and about, for DH, etc.
I'm still only able to get 1oz max and sometimes less than that.
Shouldn't I be able to get much more than that by now?
I'll be going back to work in about 10 weeks and will need/want to have a stash for daycare-I'm worried that at this rate it's not going to be able to do that.
Any thoughts or tips?
Re: DD is going on a month old and I can only pump 1oz...
My shields are 27mm ... but I do have to be careful about the position so that my nipple isn't rubbing against the sides-maybe I should check into the bigger shields?
I'm using the Medela Symphony pump and have it turned up almost all the way and then pump the full cycle until it turns off-so probably 30-40 minutes-? I'll have to pay attention to the timing next time.
Currently I'm taking fenugreek with is in the Milk Plus formula-
Thanks for the input everyone...I think I'll call the LC next week and get in right away.
Ditto the PPs. How long have you been pumping? If you've been exclusively bf-ing and just started pumping it might take a while for your body to learn to produce more milk. It does sound like your flanges may be too small. I'd pick up some larger ones just to see if it makes a difference.
I'm running into this as well. I ordered the 30mm online and rec'd this past week. They were way too big! It's like the vacuum wasn't working. I was getting a bit of milk out, but since they were so big, it was causing the milk to splash back onto the flanges and not into the bottle.
