When did Your LO Start Cooing?

My DS  doesn't show any signs of language development yet.  I have started trying to coo at him to see if he'll imitate me, but nothing...I think I read that this can take up to 2 months, but he's been ahead in his gross and small motor development by quite alot, so I'm just being paranoid mom about the fact that he hasn't started making noises other than crying/grunting.  So I'm just curious when your LOs started cooing.

TIA!

Re: When did Your LO Start Cooing?

  • dd started between 4 & 5 weeks.  She doesn't do it a lot, but she does coo at us. It's the same with her smiles. They started then, but she doesn't do it that often yet.

  • DS just started this week. They are few and far between, but when he's in a good mood we can get him to do it.

    This.

  • She first cooed at 4 weeks, but then it was very sporadic until about 7 weeks.  Now she does it all the time.

The thing she doesn't do yet too well is the whole hand thing...she's not reaching for things etc

  • Mine coos, and kind of half-giggles, she's been doing it for a wekk or two now.
  • I must have a chatterbox! LO started cooing around 3 weeks and has only gotten more vocal. It cracks us up because when we have a conversation its like she's trying to match us or something and if we get louder she gets louder. We just crack up at her!! I love it! I know some kiddos that have just taken longer to start it....I don't think there is a specific time. But when it comes enjoy it...it's beautiful!

  • I would say around a month he started doing it, but not all the time, but now he is constantly "talking." He even "talks" himself to sleep. lol. Yesterday he had his first real laugh though, it was so sweet! I really like this site to look at the milestones https://www.babycenter.com/0_milestone-chart-1-to-6-months_1496585.bc (sorry not clicky!)
