Sippy Cups with straw..

When did your LO "get it"??  DS still thinks that the straw is an awesome teether and has no idea that he is supposed to suck on the straw to get his liquids.  TIA

we have the munchkin straw cup and we got it when he was about 8 months and after a few minutes of chewing on it, i put his lips around it and he started sucking. he's gotten it since then. maybe you can try positioning his lips around it and see if he sucks. GL!

When we got the sippy cups with straws it was around 9 months. I filled it with juice and showed her (as she like to emulate us) also I sucked enough liquid out to the straw part to where it would be at the top, so when she played around with it she would get a taste of the juice and tried it her self.

The only thing was that it took her a couple of tries but now she's a champ at it!

We also have the Munchkin straw cup. We started by using a regular straw and giving him water out of that. You know, where you put your finger over the straw to hold the water in. We put the straw in his mouth and then would release our finger and then apply pressure again to stop the water. After a few times doing this, he started to suck on it. He started about 6 1/2 months old and I got him the straw cup at about 7 months. He loves it!

At 10 months old....we tried with the sippy cup straw but she kept chewing on it.  So we tried with a regular straw and a juice pouch straw.  We'd put the juice pouch straw in a cup with water and she finally got it.  Now she's able to use sippy cup straws even though those are a lot harder.

We started trying around 4 months just once a week but by 7 months he was holding an drinking it on his own. He would love a regular cup but does well with his straw sippy.
