Babies: 0 - 3 Months

being active vs no active during pregnancy

I worked out my entire pregnancy.  I ran, took spin class, elliptical, ect.  Now DD moves nonstop.  She doesn't really like being held as you would a little baby, she wants to be up all the time when held and alot of time just prefers to be on her play mat or bouncy seat.  When she's down her legs and arms move constantly, it almost looks like shes running or riding a bike.  Alot of time when she's being held and moving she'll be grunting like she's trying to get somewhere.

I'm wondering, do you think this is because I was so active during pregnancy?  If you didn't work out do you have a calmer baby?

Hmmm....well I didn't workout one lick and DD's arms and legs flail around when she's laying on her back but she LOVES to be held and the only time she squirms when she's being held is if she's tired or hungry.

  • I don't get why those would be related at all. It's not like your baby was in there working out along with you. Ditto PP, I didn't work out at all (aside from running around at work and occasional walks) and my baby kicks and flails like a maniac. Not related. At all.

I think she means baby could be used to constant movement - not that baby is going to take a spin class.

I sat on my a$$ most of my pregnancy - DD is pretty chill.  She flails about when she gets tired until she's swaddled.

  • I worked out my entire pregnancy as well and DS is a calm little guy.  I don't think it's related at all.

  • I wasn't active at all, and LO was always active in utero, and is still extremely active now. He likes to be held, but he's pretty happy just chilling wherever we set him as long as he is sitting up and able to see, or has something to look at when he's laying down. I have something above him and on each side for when he lays down. He also looks like he's running marathons when he's put down. :)
